Mission Statement

The mission of the Banks County Parks and Recreation Department is to enrich the lives of the citizens through the stewardship of the county's natural resources and the efficient and responsive provision of quality leisure opportunities, experiences, and partnerships.

 

Department Staff

The Banks County Parks and Recreation Department has four full time staff, and about 20 part time staff.

Joe Gailey is the Banks County Parks and Recreation Department's Director. Joe had been working in the public recreation field since 1980 either full or part time.  He has worked in all areas of recreation and has been a director since 1998.  He has worked in White, Habersham, and Stephens counties in Georgia, and most recently as Recreation Director in Hardeeville, South Carolina.  He and his wife have one daughter.

Tommy Wilson is the Banks County Parks and Recreation Department's Athletics Coordinator. He graduated from Banks County High School in 1991. Tommy has been working for the Banks County Parks and Recreation Department for 12 years.

Kim McEntire-Barber is the Banks County Parks and Recreation Department's Programs Coordinator. Kim graduated form Habersham Central in 1998; she then went to Emmanuel College on a softball scholarship where she graduated in 2003 wiht a degree in Kinesiology. Kim has worked for Banks County Parks and Recreation for 3 years.

Robert Norman is the Banks County Parks and Recreation Department's Maintenance Coordinator. Robert graduated from Banks County High School in 2001. He began working full time for the Banks County Parks and Recreation Department in December 2004.

 

Department Objectives for 2006

Achieve customer satisfaction rating of 90% or greater for programs, facilities, and maintenance through continues analysis of participant evaluations.

Improve the number of arts, athletic, recreation, and environmental programs and special events by 10%.

Establish competitive entry pay for recruitment of part-time/seasonal positions.

Institute communications plan to improve public information and outreach.

 

NRPA/GRPA Certification

All staff members hold membership in professional organizations including the Georgia Recreation and Park Association, and the National Recreation and Park Association.
